George McDonald Engineering Co. was founded over 50 years ago in 1946 by George B. McDonald as a general construction and contracting company. Throughout his career George McDonald developed an excellent reputation based on integrity, commitment and teamwork.

We are very proud of our historical accomplishments as a key contractor for Fairchild, Varian, Raychem, Pacific Bell. George McDonald's legacy as an uncompromising individual who exemplified personal integrity and quality for the client is something we continue today.

In 1987, as a result of his father’s mentoring and encouragement, Brion J. McDonald successfully formed what is known today as UBS, Universal Building Systems.

Brion J. McDonald brings hiw own unique history and experience to his role as CEO of Universal Building Systems. Brion holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and worked at PG&E as a power and energy management engineer finding energy saving solutions for clients large and small in the commercial industrial sector. This project experience set the stage for his tenure as owner and CEO of UBS.

Brion has built facilities for FMC Defense, clean rooms for Philips Semiconductor, Etek and Huntington Laboratories, press plants for The Wall Street Journal, RFI facilities for Teledyne, data centers for Texas Instruments, and restoration projects for San Francisco Exploratorium and Palace of Fine Arts, plus coountless smaller tenant improvement projects.
